Banqer Lesson blog post. Week 7.

Today’s Banqer lesson we went over some words/things and what they mean! Those words/things were: Debit card, a card that contains money that you have in your bank account, then credit card: a card that doesn’t have your money in the card, it’s the banks money that you spend but you have to pay back. An after pay is a payment Available to online shoppers that allows them to delay the payment on purchases. A Personal loan is when you get money from the bank that you have to pay back. Overdraft is when something is withdrawn in excess of what is in a current account. Hire purchases is a set out payment, like If you set up a payment of 20 dollars every week for 12 weeks for one item.

Just stuff that involves the bank! But the main thing that we did today was we had to get in a group of 4 and we got given some squares of paper, it had some bank related things on the paper so like, Bankruptcy but there was other squares of  what they meant and are group had to put the correct squares of paper together. Are team nearly got everything right but one thing. ( We got it right ever soon after. )

I have learnt the meanings of these things: A weekly service fee. A fee that you regularly pay to the bank for having an overdraft. Another one was a Max overdraft limit: A Maximum amount of money you are allowed  to borrow. A set up fee is a one-off charge that is sometimes called an establishment fee. A arranged over draft when you apply to the bank to borrow more money than is in your bank account. Bankruptcy is when you have no money left and cannot pay your debts. In Banqer this can be initiated by the creditor ( The Bank ) An unarranged overdraft is when you spend more money in your account. Finally an interest rate is the rate you are charged every week. This is a percentage of the over draft balance every week.

That’s what we did for are Banqer lesson today!

Water Rescue

One Sunday an off duty coast guard Ray Burge was going for a coastal drive with his family,

that day took a turn because Ray spotted a man waving for help! Ray found some children saying that their mum was in trouble in the water, and their dad leapt into the water to try and save her. Ray called coastguard for back up. Then Ray dived into the ocean and swam out more than 100 meters to get this man that had drifted out 200 meters in the water!

Ray got the man back to shore and then coastguard got their mother. Everyone was saved!

  1. I think the reason that those people got stuck out far at sea was because they weren’t great swimmers and they could have gotten caught in a rip without looking at the conditions of the waters.

      2. I think that family should have looked at the conditions of the waters where they swam and they should                 have gone to a beach where there were lifeguards.

       3. I think their dad should have called for help before jumping into the water to save their mother because if he got stuck there would be help on the way.

My First Week in Tangaroa!

When School last year ended I was sad to leave Tane Mahuta, It was scary because I didn’t know a lot of the people in Tangaroa and I was and still am scared if people will judge me. I didn’t have much support but my parents, so when school started up again I just wanted to sit in my room and cry.

But I didn’t, I needed to go and have a look before I judged the class. So when it was the first day, I walked into the class and I said hello to all the teachers but after the day ended I thought it was the best class ever because! Since then it has been really amazing! All the teachers are really nice, I have learned about the treaty of Waitangi for example like stuff like when the treaty was signed and Who signed it. Plus we did a lot of relations through the kaiawhina groups! I’m happy with how things are right now.

But I am still scared of what’s to come.
